Missing NYC...

One of my favorite places I got to visit while I was interning in NYC was Betsey Johnson's apartment. Yes, her actual apartment! I was lucky enough by able to go after work one afternoon. The reason isn't glamorous, but who cares. I got to go and that was all that mattered to me! Who would turn down that kind of opportunity!

I was entrusted to take Lucy home. Lucy is Betsey's dog and loyal companion. Lucy and I got on the subway and headed to Columbus Circle. Now I can't reveal an address (and honestly I couldn't remember if I tried), but it's not that far from there. Once I reached the building, Lucy and I got on a tiny elevator that would make anyone claustrophobic. Standing room for one only. Once we reached the top floor, I went inside and got to experience the loft-like apartment pictured above.

It was magical moment I will never forget. It was so bright, fun, and inspirational. She mixed modern with vintage and installed some completely unexpected pieces. (i.e. - The lawn chair in place of a chaise lounge and an extremely low bed!) It completely reflected the same vibe as her showroom. I think Betsey has a wonderful design approach to her home and office. She makes it totally her, interesting, and beautiful. I believe it keeps her motivated and inspired to continue striving to be the best designer possible.

Love and Fairytales,

Jenna

  1. If I could copy anyone's style, it would be Betsy Johnson. If I ever get married, I want a Betsy Johnson gown. I love her as a designer and as a person. I am sooooooo envious that you worked for her. :-D
